Are you looking for your dream wedding shoes? We have the answer – Christian Louboutin. Seriously sexy footwear is what Louboutins are all about! The iconic lipstick-red soles are worn all over the world by the most stylish of celebrities and fashionistas alike, each with vertiginous provoking heels seeped in glamour, power and femininity – perfect for your big day!
Christian Louboutin, the man behind the shoes, was born in Paris in 1963. He launched his brand with signature shiny, red-lacquered soles in 1991.
Louboutin began sketching shoes in his early teens, ignoring his academic studies. He became fascinated with shoes in 1976 when he visited the Musée national des Arts d’Afrique et d’Océanie on the avenue Daumesnil. Here he saw a sign forbidding women wearing sharp stilettos. This image stayed in his mind, and he later used this idea in his designs. “I wanted to defy that,” Louboutin said. “I wanted to create something that broke rules and made women feel confident and empowered’’.
Louboutin then travelled to Egypt & India, returning to Paris in 1981 with a portfolio of drawings of elaborate high heels & became the apprentice to Roger Vivier, who claims to have invented the stiletto. He then went on to freelance and designed shoes for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Maud Frizon. In the late 1980s, he turned away from fashion to become a landscape gardener and to contribute to Vogue but missed working with shoes and set up his company in 1991.
He opened a Parisian shoe salon in 1991 with Princess Caroline of Monaco as his first customer. A fashion journalist published the Princess’ praise on the brand & the Louboutin buzz amongst celebrities started. Clients such as Diane von Fürstenberg and Catherine Deneuve followed. Celebrity endorses now include Christina Aguilera, Joan Collins, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kim Kardashian.
And the brides could not fail to mark their big day with a truly sexy shoe! The style Icon & shoe lover, Sarah Jessica Parker wore Christian Loubuotins throughout ‘Sex & The City’ as fashionista Carrie Bradshaw, but she’s also a fan in real life; choosing to wear a pair of Louboutins on her own wedding day.
With lots of jaw-droppingly gorgeous styles to choose from with the addition of the famous red soles – what could look better peeping out from your wedding dress?
