The “L’Eclaireur” boutiques in Paris are true temples for fashion enthusiasts who appreciate dynamic and innovate style, where fashion and lifestyle come together and where one constantly discovers unique and up and coming young talented designers in locations that make you live the ” shopping experience” in a very different way.
Since opening its first boutique in Paris 35 years ago, L’Eclaireur has always been the most divergent and avant-garde shop in the city. Not only for selecting the most daring artists and designer clothing, accessories and home furnishings, but also in the way that their cutting edge and creative boutiques are presented. A place of discoveries in the real sense of the term.
They are a total 6 boutiques – each with their own personality. All differ nicely, but have one thing in common – proposing the unusual – new designers, new collections, new collaborations…
From its conception over 35 years ago, L’Eclaireur defined the pillars of their shopping proposal: combining several artistic expressions in fashion and design with aesthetic and surprising interior decoration. Visiting the L’Eclaireur store on rue Hérold is one of the best kept secrets of the luxury world and an example of just how they approach retailing. Imagine – your first moments when you arrive at this boutique – No shop windows, no signs – nothing ! Only a discreet doorbell to ring as if entering a typical Parisian apartment building. What a surprise and pure delight when that large door opens up into a secretive and exclusive space full of wondrous treasures for you to admire and of course – purchase. It is this exciting approach to retailing that quickly established L’Eclaireur as a visionary force in the world of fashion and retailing culture.
L’Eclaireur was a pioneer in integrating furniture and design objects as essential elements in their stores, and that also compliments their daring range of new designer pieces. On this constant quest for novelty, L’Eclaireur aligned their radical vision for fashion in France in the early 80s with designers such as Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela. They also developed long-term collaborative relationships with the “Japanese School”, creating a new and unique platform for Rei Kawakubo for COMME des GARÇONS, Junya Watanabe and Yohji Yamamoto.
Today, L’Eclaireur has added other luxury brands to its shop collections with very often exclusive and unique pieces from the likes of Fendi, Valentino Garavani, Alexander McQueen, Marni, Chloe, Saint Laurent and many more. But in all this time, L’Eclaireur has remained loyal and consistent with its primary objective – That is to simply to offer the fashion lovers true discoveries in the fashion circuit, with really rare pieces.
I invite you to see one L’Eclaireur boutique that is absolutely an address to visit. Its based on “rue de Sévigné” in the heart of the Marais district; It’s a true work of art, created in collaboration with the Belgian artist Arne Quinze.
As soon as you pass the door you are immediately seduced by the scent of an exceptional perfume. These perfumes are available for you – all lined up and displayed for you to find the perfect scent for you. Of course, there is also a nice range of Fornasetti objects, rare sunglasses, jewellery breath-taking and original accessories! But the visit is only beginning…
Moving to the second door to have another experience … In a unique environment of two tons of wooden planks and 147 video screens create an environment that combines illusion and reality. Between different rooms and niches, impressive male and female collections (not to mention accessories) are arranged like works of art in perfect cohesion with the theatrical and decorative atmosphere of the boutique.
Everything seems – or indeed is – unique. The Sévigné boutique brings together art, technology, design and the legendary style unique to L’Eclaireur. A truly perfect boutique to surprise and seduce design lovers who worship the pleasure of offering something different for themselves and for others.
