Since 1945, the French fashion house Carven has been a symbol of Parisian chic and casual elegance. Its collections evoke the delicate luxury of haute couture on which would have blown a wind of modernity for the coming seasons.
Visiting one of their beautiful boutiques in Paris, we discover a monochromatic palette while distinguishes a collection that is sober, punctuated with acid tints and abstract prints.
Sumptuous materials and impeccable cuts combine with the sensual lines and delicate details to create a resolutely feminine timeless silhouette.
But the recent news of the arrival since January of the Swiss Designer Serge Ruffieux as the new head of the artistic direction of women’s collections of ready-to-wear, accessories and shoes, has raised expectations from the fashion community of a new direction for the brand.
Serge Ruffieux, at 42, has an extraordinary experience within the luxury industry. The designer directed alongside Lucie Meier the Dior collections of ready-to-wear and couture under the direction of Raf Simons. He then became co-artistic director of Dior between 2015 and 2016 following the departure of Simons. Ruffieux for many years was also the right arm of the famous French designer Sonia Rykiel.
Now with Carven, Ruffieux will use all of this excellent experience to demonstrate all of his creative talent. His innate sense of modernity, combined with his mastery of sewing techniques, should bring a perfect accord with the legendary legacy of Maison Carven.
We are looking forward to this new chapter in the history of Carven with a first collection cruise to be delivered in May and the collection spring-summer 2018 which will follow next September.
