The Future of Menswear

The English department store group, Harvey Nichols has opened a new dedicated space for men in its flagship store in Knightsbridge, following nine months of intensive refurbishment.

The “store within the store” occupies the two lower ground floors covering almost 300 square meters. The task of designing this menswear emporium was given to the well-known architect firm Virgile and Partners. They have done a wonderful job and have made some important changes like creating dedicated entrances built off Sloane Street and Seville Street.

Harvey-Nichols-Carnet-ChicOf course, they also totally redesigned the interior, removing walls and reconfiguring the layout with a more open space layout, but cleverly keeping some intimate and segmented boutique areas as well. There is a stylish use of combining marble and oak, textured glass and even corrugated metal. The refurbishment is the first step in a four-year plan to modernise the entire Knightsbridge store.

Harvey-Nichols-Carnet-ChicThere is over 250 brands and the new store is divided into International, Contemporary, Accessories, Denim, chic casual spaces, as well as a Style Concierge and Personal Shopping area. There is also a café-come-bar, barbershop and pop-up concept store called Project 109.

Where London’s best-dressed partied the night away to an exclusive live DJ set from Jamie XX. The crowd were fuelled by Patrón cocktails and Japanese junk food from Kurobuta while jostling for a first look at Project 109. Some well-known names were there including Douglas Booth, Toby Huntington-Whiteley and Downton Abbey star, Ed Speelers

On the lower ground floor you will find the big brands you know and love. Discover the definition of luxury with international brands, including Alexander McQueen, Valentino and Gucci.

There is a great casualwear area where you’ll find the likes of Canada Goose, Nudie Jeans, BLK DNM and much more. A more modern look is also available if you’re looking for something different – that one piece that everyone wants but no one else has. Explore collections from new and noteworthy names like 1205, Tourne de Transmission and John Elliott.

There is an excellent selection of shoes and accessories from the likes of Lanvin, Mr. Hare and newcomer Feit, and bags from big-hitters including Alexander McQueen and Gucci.

The last word has to go to the AONO Barbershop. Open from early until late, it will provide bespoke grooming for the time-sensitive and hurried city gents. AONO is a Brighton-born barbershop and streetwear brand headed up by Paul Hewitt, a master barber with over 11 years in the industry, who brings traditional barbering bang up to date. AONO offers a full service from early till late, so you can drop in at your leisure and of course – do some shopping !

There is also the Harvey Nickols luxurious new tailoring department for esteemed brands, including Pal Zileri, Corneliani and newcomer Harris Wharf London.

A fantastic store for men who will find everything they need, neatly packaged under one roof in the heart of Knightsbridge.
