Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Christian Dior from September 20th to October 10th , the Galeries Lafayette department store in Paris has prepared a star-shaped showcase windows, exclusive pieces and a beautiful mini-exhibition in a special event to coincide with Paris Fashion Week.

Admirers of Christian Dior knew that he was superstitious, relying easily on divination, cartomancy and astrology, following the constellations of the night blue sky. Galeries Lafayette will dedicate 11 window displays its Paris flagship store on Boulevard Haussmann, with 23 exclusive products and a mini-exhibition called “I Fell Blue” – showing a dozen of the most beautiful blue night models signed by the couturier in parallel with the retrospective at Les Arts Décoratifs that runs until January 7th 2018.

Christian Dior adored this deep blue and chose evocative names for his designs like: “Evening”, “Good star”, “Star of the North”.

The exclusive products include mini Lady Dior bags embroidered with stars and the words “I Feel Blue.” A limited-edition navy silk scarf will feature a celestial map of star signs alongside the mention “Les 70 ans de Christian Dior,” or “The 70th Anniversary of Christian Dior”, but also scarves, candles, fantasy jewellery…

The exhibition will feature 12 vintage outfits designed by the couturier, ranging from the navy wool Doris coat from his first collection in 1947 to the Billet Doux silk day dress with a rose motif from 1957, the year of his death.

“Among all the colours, navy blue is the only one that can ever compete with black; it has all the same qualities,” he once said.

Everything for fairs fans of the brand and collectors should appreciate.
